The areas inshore waters are often referred to as the worlds flounder capital, and offshore many wrecks populate the ocean floor providing spectacular wreck and bottom fishing for such species as sea bass, tautog and trigger fish. The area also harbors numerous sea mounts and lumps where bluefish, king mackerel and bluefin tuna congregate and for those wanting an offshore adventure the infamous 30 fathom line is the gateway to where the creatures of Hemingway and Zane Gray adventures are to be found.

Bay and near coastal species targeted include flounder, croaker, black drum , sea trout, Spanish mackerel and cobia.
